ABOUT ME
Lori Tompos
Executive Leadership Coach, Trainer, and Speaker
My purpose is to inspire, encourage, and support leaders. I have over 20 years of experience developing leaders and teams to reach their highest potential—beginning in the U.S. Army and continuing in Corporate America and Higher Education. As the Founder and Principal of Avail Consulting, I leverage my diverse background to equip exceptional leaders and teams to increase their impact by fostering strengths, developing strategic insight, and implementing innovative solutions. I design and deliver creative programs, facilitate problem-solving workshops, teach college courses, deliver keynote speeches, and provide executive leadership coaching.
I also serve as an Adjunct Professor at Elmhurst University, where I teach courses such as Corporate Communications for Project Managers, Global HR Issues for Supply Chain Managers, and Professional Foundations for Career Development.
As a combat veteran from Desert Storm, I set up and ran a PATRIOT Missile System and later commanded the Brigade Fire Direction Center. I am proud to be one of the first women in Combat Arms as an Airborne, Air Assault, and Air Defense Artillery Officer, and among the first decade of women graduates from West Point. Today, I continue to serve as the North Central Regional Advisor for the Advisory Board of the West Point Association of Graduates and Chair of WPAOG Society Committees.
I hold a Master of Education (MEd) from Ohio University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Elmhurst University, where I was honored with the Alumni Merit Award for Distinguished Service to Society. I’ve also served as Grand Marshal of the Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade, contribute to the Veteran’s Commission, and am an active member of the Elmhurst American Legion. In 2022, I was honored at the Chicago Bears Military Salute.
Most recently, I delivered a TEDx Talk on my leadership mantra: “Lead people. Manage projects. Lead with support.”
